Silk Dual

Material position

Silk Dual uses paired colours in PLA silk filament to create a direction-dependent surface colour.Paired colour and silk reflection work together: opposite sides of a curve can show different hues, while rotation or a changed viewing angle reveals new combinations. Twisted vases and curved display forms organise this effect through geometric orientation.

Selection notes

Consider filament cross-section direction, model orientation and curved geometry. Directional dual-colour effects differ from rainbow changes along filament length; toolpaths and rotation during feeding also influence the distribution.

Material

Silk Dual combines two colours in a single PLA silk filament. Their juxtaposition across its section creates directional colour, while silk sheen strengthens light-to-dark differences at different angles.

Forms

Curved vases, twisted pieces and display forms let Silk Dual's directional colour follow geometry. Smooth arcs shift hues gradually, facets separate the pair clearly, and twisted contours integrate colour changes into the form.
Context — Concept visual

Context

In displays viewed from multiple directions, paired colour gives one object several visual expressions. Curve orientation and turns establish focal points that change with viewing direction on Silk Dual display forms.
