ASA

Material position

ASA is an acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylate material direction that builds on ABS-family materials with greater emphasis on weathering, UV resistance and colour stability. It is suited to exploring architectural components and site-model parts exposed to sun, temperature shifts or outdoor conditions. Louvres, screens, supports and facade panels demonstrate ASA's design value across repeated structures, opening rhythm and stable appearance.

Spool and architectural components: louvres, panels and site masses establish model scale.

Selection notes

Select ASA by considering whether the part faces long-term sunlight, moisture, temperature shifts or outdoor colour retention. Component scale, wall thickness, repeated openings and installation method affect thermal shrinkage and forming stability; larger screens and panels especially require environmental temperature, cooling rhythm and fixing relationships to be designed together.

Material

ASA is an engineering thermoplastic made from acrylonitrile, styrene and acrylate, often treated as the weather-resistant direction of ABS. Its acrylate rubber component supports improved UV and weathering behaviour, helping colour and surface remain more stable under extended light exposure.

Forms

Louvre grids, support brackets, facade panels and site-model parts express ASA through architectural geometry. Repeated openings, long straight edges and changes in thickness make dimensional stability, edge quality and colour retention central to component design.
Context — Concept visual

Context

Architectural models and outdoor components face continued light, temperature change and environmental exposure while needing to preserve facade rhythm and clear installation boundaries. ASA's weathering and UV-resistance direction makes it a useful material choice to explore for screens, panels, supports and site parts in these conditions.
